Discalced Carmelite Nuns live a cloistered life of prayer and community and work for the sanctification of priests and to support the mission of the Church: the salvation of all people in Christ.

The Discalced Carmelite Friars enjoy a spirit of fraternity and service in relationship with the Discalced Carmelite Nuns, serving as spiritual directors, confessors, and retreat directors in our Province and beyond.

  • Carmel of St. Teresa of Jesus

    A small monastery located in Little Rock, Arkansas, on 22 acres of wooded land. Their life as contemplatives is closely patterned on Mary's since she is the best example of total dedication to Jesus and His mission of salvation.

  • Carmel of Saint Joseph and Saint Teresa

    The Carmelite Nuns of Covington, Louisiana feel blessed to live their lives of prayer in service to God, the Church, and the whole world. Their commitment to continuous prayer is sustained by faith, by hope, and by divine charity.

  • Carmel of Our Lady of the Incarnation

    The Discalced Carmelite Nuns of Sioux City, Iowa are a small community who live a simple traditional cloistered lifestyle totally dedicated to God fostered by the silence and solitude of the cloister in harmony with a joyful sisterly community life.

  • Carmel of St. Joseph

    Established in Oklahoma in 1938 after Bishop Francis Clement Kelley read the Life of Saint Teresa of Jesus and wanted a Carmel for his young diocese. He wrote, “I have long desired to have a contemplative order of women to aid us by their prayers and sacrifices.” Prayer is the community’s primary apostolate and their mission is to pray for the needs of the Church and people in Oklahoma and the world.

  • Carmel of the Infant Jesus of Prague and of Our Lady of Guadalupe

    A bilingual contemplative community dedicated to a life of unceasing prayer located in San Antonio, Texas. The sisters live in simplicity, in the silent presence of Christ. The day is divided into times of solitude and silence; private and communal prayer, of work and recreation.

    This Discalced Carmelite Community in Lafayette, Louisiana has lived their vocation of prayer for over 85 years. From a variety of backgrounds, places, and experiences, these sisters are bound together by the vocation of prayer for the Church and the world.

  • Carmel of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel & St. Thérèse

    A small community of Discalced Carmelite Nuns situated in the Home Mission Diocese of Jackson, Mississippi called to re-create a contemplative presence, integrating solitude and silence in an atmosphere of sisterly Communion.

  • Carmel of Our Lady of Confidence

    Located in Savannah, GA and overlooking the Forest River, the Carmelites of Our Lady of Confidence are called to pray unceasingly for our priests, our deacons, our seminarians, and all humanity in faith, joy, and humility so as to lighten the weight of their daily burdens and responsibilities.

  • Carmel of the Infant Jesus of Prague and St. Joseph

    A cloistered contemplative community whose way of life follows a joyful expression of total dedication to Christ in a community atmosphere of unity and constant prayer. Daily life is centered around the Eucharistic Sacrifice of Jesus - daily mass. Simplicity of life, the silence and solitude of a hermit, & the support of a loving community all help us as we “journey on to heaven.”
